I should know better than to think things would keep moving in the right direction. Last night Ava got pretty bad (compared to where she has been). They did a chest x-ray and found fluid built up around her lung, which in turn causes it to be very hard for her to breath. This morning they ended up putting her on a flow of 2 liters and 60% O2 and she is just barely where she needs to be in terms of her saturation. The poor baby looks so sad and scared to me when she is awake. She is just working so hard to breath. When she is sleeping she looks peaceful for the most part, so I think she can get pretty comfortable. They are going to take her down to interventional radiology and put in another chest tube today around 5:00. She will be sedated, so depending on how she reacts to that she may end back up on the ventilator. I pray that she can stay off and that if she does end up back on it they can take her back off when she wakes back up.
Nate and Kaden are going to be on their way back up tomorrow night!!! I am thinking that we might try to watch Horton Hears A Who again, we did get those passes we need to use. I have to remember to have Nate bring up the big battery...so babe, if you are reading this please bring it up ...we both know how "great" my memory is. I am so excited to see Mr. Kaden. I know this sounds funny, but every time I see him after him being gone he looks so much bigger. Nate has decided that he is going to teach Kaden how to play golf. I think that would be a great sport for him...besides that, I guess he was very interested in the golf clubs at the store. I would love to watch him play golf. Could you imagine him the size of a football player (which is how I imagine him) playing golf : )!!!

Amy my heart is going out to you. We are praying. I hope we get a chance to see you tomorrow. Even if it is just for a few minutes. Our appointment is not until 2:30. So we are going to come up a little bit earlier to say hi to everyone. I hope you get a chance to take Kaden to the movies tomorrow!! Take care and as always if you need anything just let me know.

Amy you and Nate stay strong I remember the times when Kaden was in and out of the hospital you would plane to come home and then end up staying a few more days and see he is a strong handsome boy. I have enjoyed seeing the pctures of him he has grown so much and his glasses make him look more grown up. Ava is strong like Kaden is, that is something you and NAte passed on to both of them.Ava is in my prayers.Hopr to see the entire family home soon.

Hi, I have never responded before but have been following Ava's story since she was born. I had twins that were 24 weeks and weighed 1 og 8 oz. We lost my son at 3 weeks and my daughter has had 13 surgeries and was in the NICU for 5 months. I know where you are coming from and have prayed for you and your family since I started following. Anyway, the only thing that worked for our diaper rash (and it works AWESOME) is Dr. Smith's diaper ointment. It is expensive as it is $10 for only 2 oz's but it is worth the money. You have to get her bottom dry and goop it on (don't be shy) and it should clear it up in 24 ours. My daughter had bowel surgery and had an iliostomy for the first 6 months of her life so you can only imagine how red her bottom got after not ever pooping for the first 6 months. The hospital told us everything to use and nothing worked until we got home and called the pediatrician who recommended this. We have used it on her sister too and it has been amazing. I really hope you have the same luck. Let me know.
