Please continue to pray

Things are going well for Ava as of now. We are having her baptized tomorrow, before she goes in for surgery on Monday. The chaplain gave us a beautiful gown for her to wear that was donated by a family. We talked to her surgeon, Dr. O'brien, and it really made me face reality again. She has just been doing so well, and to know that the surgery could either make her better or make her worse just is hard to face. He talked about her chances after surgery and it really scared me. He talked about how hard it will be for her the days after surgery and said that with her having a syndrome that she has less of a chance for a good recovery compared to those who do not have a syndrome. He went on to say that she has 2 out of 3 chance of surviving, which to me sounded good until of I thought of the percentage. Don't get me wrong, I will take 66% chance over no chance...hey Kaden had less of a chance and look at him. I just ask that you all continue to pray for her to have a successful surgery, and a quick, painless recovery. I plan on posting pictures tomorrow...I hope. Thank you again for all of your support and prayers.

I originally found your blog after I received a google alert on "turner syndrome" last year. My daughter also has Turner Syndrome. For some reason, this morning, your family came to my mind and I checked your blog to see if your little girl had been born yet. It seems that your little angel is probably in surgery as I write this post. I am sitting at my computer praying for her... and feel that your family came to my mind on this day, for this very reason. My daughter's heart surgeon was also Dr. O'Brien at CMH; please know that your girl is in blessed hands with him. I know you must be so afraid right now, and just thinking about this takes me right back to the day we handed our 1 week old girl to Dr. O'Brien and prayed. Please know that you are in my prayers. God bless you all.

Amy and Nathan,
Just wanted to let you know of a couple of blogs you might be interested in. I learned of them from the article Margie has from the Marysville paper. Bothe little boys have the same heart defect as Ava. They are www.caringbridge.com/garrettjones, and www.breuerfamily.com. Both babies had their surgery at CMH, however both stories are different.
We are thinking of you guys this morning and the kids and I said a little prayer before school for Ava. Love and hugs
Amy

Dear Nat and Amy,
My name is Kristy Eickholt. I'm from JC too and learned of your surgery through Micah. My son , Jack, was born with a severe heart defect and downs syndrome. I spent weeks at CMH and know what you are going through. You have been on my mind constantly the last week or so and especially today. I have been praying for Ava and you and so has my family. If there is anything I can do for you in JC while you are in KC please let me know. I know you do not know me, but I am here to help if I can. Gabi and Jack are with Ava right now and they are going to get her through this. Keep your faith and know that you are not alone! May God give you peace and Ava strength! Sending you big hugs...Kristy Eickholt, Junction City

I just wanted you to know that Ava has been on my mind and in my prayers. I just returned from bible study and we said a special intention for baby Ava. We don't know each other and I received your link from Gabi's website (I've never met them either but my little girl has Down syndrome and read an article that Jason wrote). I felt connected to you because my son is also named Caden and my anniversary is also October 9th. Another common thread is a comment mentions garret jones website whose mom is a close friend of mine. Stay strong and remember, "I can do all things through Christ who strenghens me."
Take care,

Amy & Nathan,
Praying for Ava to be strong and to show those Doctors she doesn't need ECMO anymore! My little bit of advice... DON"T STOP BELIEVING! I know exactly how you feel sitting there in your PICU room so helpless and so beside yourself, but chin up, things WILL get easier and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone at CMH told us that there are many ups and downs during the Norwood recovery, and that is so true! I remember sitting there asking God, "Can I please have just ONE day, ONE DAY, of nothing but GOOD news?!" And it will happen. Know that we are praying for you, Ava, and your family. Ava can get thru this! Surround her with your presence, she knows you're there! Touch her, talk to her, and when you can hold her, hold her close! You'll get thru!
With much love,

I learned of your need for prayer from Amy Boeckman, please know that I will keep Ava, Kaden and the whole family in my prayers. Scripture says,"What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye recieve them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24. That is the word of God. Trust in Him. God is in control and will not fail.May God bless and keep you.
