Nate and I decided to come back to the RMH around 4:30 or so to spend some time with Kaden. After being gone all day it began to feel like we were neglecting him, although it would not be any different then if we were at work...but since he is in a different enviroment and we aren't at work...well you know. When we left Ava was still fighting and her sats increased to 78!!!, she does require 100% oxygen though, but hey she is off ECMO and still fighting what more can we ask for right now. I am just so amazed at the fight I have seen in both of my babies. Where they get it from, I don't know...but man I wish I had it.

What a beautiful poem. This is where you draw your strength from. Just remember you have lots and lots of family praying for you - even ones you have never met. Love to you all.

You do have it, you are a strong incredible woman and both Kaden and Ava have gotten it from you. You've fought for both of them and given them both strength. There are very few people in this world who could walk in your shoes and do it with even half the strength, grace and faith that you have. Just remember God wouldn't have chosen Kaden and Ava for you if he didn't have faith in your strength. We love you guys, big hugs,

I think it obvious where the kids get there fight from. You and Nathan have never given up on the kids even in the most challenging times. You are both so strong, and have a strong belief in your faith. Hopefully Ava will get stronger and stronger each day. I can't wait to see you again, and maybe get to hold her if she is up for it. Get a good nights rest, I know you guys had a long stressful day. Lots of Love!

Amy, the poem is completely true! You and Nathan are so incredibly amazing. You have no idea how much i look up to you and admire you for being such wonderful parents for Kaden and Ava. Those two children are so amazing and they have you and Nathan to thank for that! I'm so excited for little Ava! I knew she'd be a little fighter just like her big brother! I read her updates today and just started crying. I seriously think i cry everytime i tell someone about her and when i read the updates! I miss you and i really hope to see you soon! I'm always, always thinking of and praying you and your family! Continue to have such an abundance of strength! You're amazing! Love you tons!

Your poem got me all misty-eyed!
It's so very true though. I'm so relieved that Ava is doing well. I'll be thinking of her - and of you all - in the coming days. I know it's going to be a challenge for all of you!

So excited to read she is off ECMO! I met Isabella's parents in PICU during our overnight stay after the scary episode during Tyler's cath lab on Tuesday. She updated me about Ava. I was asking where you and Nate were in PICU and she told me not PICU but in NICU... so I didn't get a chance to meet you. Sometimes it's nice to talk to parents of other HLHSer's. I wish you the best over the coming days and weeks during recovery. If you ever need to talk, I'm here. Call me whenever, I'm available! 913-845-2996

When I look at everything you and Nathan have been through with Kaden and Ava and all that is left to come, I know that you all are fighters. Heck, just look at how Nathan always wants to wrestle with Kaden. There is fight in all of us and when pushed it comes out. You have so much strenght and willpower. I admire the both of you for the strength that you have and the fight to keep going. That is were your kids get it from, the two of you. I was so happy to read about Ava's update. That is such good news. Me and a lady here at work read the poem and we both got misty eyed. How true that poem is. Get all the rest you can get, 'cause before you know it you will be having to chase Kaden down the hall if he keeps up his walking. We are all thinking of you guys and praying for you. Give lots of hugs and kisses to Kaden and Ava for us. Can't wait to see you all again.
Lot of love!!!

Amy and Nate,
I am so happy to hear that Ava is continuing to fight this battle! What a little champ. I understand the feelings of being weak, but you are not. You both are amazing people with more strength then you know you have. I hope to meet you and your family when you make it back to JC. Try to get some rest. It sounds like Ava is on her way to recovery!

You don't know me, but my family is friends with Matt and Megan. Caden (my son) and Isabella had their first open heart on the same day. Caden had a second open heart 5 weeks later, and went on ECMO the next day. He was on for 8 days. I just want to let you know that it does get better. If you want, we can swap stories or you can ask me any questions regarding follow-up care. I'm an open book! Congratulations on coming off ECMO! It's literally as if your child is reborn after coming off. Sad, wonderful and true at the same time.
