We Are Home!!!

We got home about an hour ago. Sorry I haven't posted any pictures. I had Nate take the laptop home b/c we couldn't get internet in the hospital, but I kept the camera and never downloaded any pictures. I did hear from him however that I needed to post pictures b/c we got a lot of request for them. I will download them tonight when everything settles down and get some posted.

Things are going well. It sure was different to have a baby in a hospital so close to home. Nate was able to go home and hang out with Kaden at night and then take him to school in the mornings. I am sure Kaden enjoyed that very much. I am just so excited to be home!!! It is all to real.

I am really sore, but I hear that time will heal that...I sure hope so. The pain meds make me too drowsey so I really want to try to take as little as those as I have too. Hopefully the motrin helps out. Breastfeeding isn't going too well. The first time we put him on, he did awesome and I thought "wow, this is going to go great." So...I have changed my mind. This big guy is hungry and my milk hasn't come in. He isn't a dummy, he figures "Why in the world am I working so hard for nothing," so he gets really frustrated when it is time to feed and I have the hardest time getting him latched on. Hopefully within the next day or so my milk will start coming in, or I might just break down and give him a bottle.

The c-section went alright...but boy am I glad I decided to go that route. The doctor even had trouble getting Brody's shoulders through the incision. The nurse said that she thought he was going to have to cut it bigger, but he didn't. Nate told me that he thought the doctor was going to rip his head off with the amount of force he needed to use to get him out. Once Brody's head was out the first thing I heard from everyone was "look at those chubby cheeks!!!" Then I heard that he was 11 lbs. I knew he was going to be big, but not that big. The good news is that I love chubby babies : ).

So be on the look out tonight. I will post pictures soon.

Glad to hear you are doing well. Give the breastfeeding some good time. The more you feed or pump the sooner your milk will come in. I was not completely convinced on the whole thing and comfortable until Xavier was about 3 months old. I wanted to give up several times. But try to stick with it if that is what you want to do. My first three I didn't stick to it well, and I do regret it now. But, I think they turned out just fine as bottle fed babies also. So just do what is comfortable for you. I can't wait to meet Brody, but seems like it could be awhile. Syd is getting sick again, and X has an ear infection. So I guess all in due time. Take it easy and don't overdue yourself. And please let me know if I can help you or support you in any way.
Love and Hugs to all.
P.S. Can't wait to see pictures!

I am so happy for you guys. What a wonderful blessing that you are home and Brody and you are doing great. Good luck with the breasfeeding. I know it is hard. You would think it would be easier to start out than what it is. I can't wait to see pictures of him. I can't imagine an 11# baby!!! Wow what a big boy.
Love and Prayers Always

Congratulations on that new baby boy! I'm sure Brody is beautiful. I've been following your blog for quite a while and am SO happy Brody is healthy. You definitely deserve it.

I wanted to let you know that I'm a lactation consultant in the Kansas City area. I would be more than happy to chat with you about the breastfeeding stuff...if you want. I'm sure there are LC's in your area.

If you do want to give me a holler you can email me at greatkidzmom@hotmail.com and I will email my cell #.

Again, congratulations and HANG IN THERE!!

You know now you're going to get comments from all of us crazy b-feeding mommies!!!

I was going to say the same as the last comment, give it some time. There are no words for how easy it makes everything. Never needs heated, cleaned or mixed, it's always ready to go!!! Seriously once they get the hang of it, it's worth it! It took Chelsea SIX months!!! Can't believe I gave it that long, but I was determined.

Both of my kids latched on right away and did great the first time, then we went through a rough patch, but it always worked out in the end. Don't forget to utilize the b-feeding clinics at local hospitals, they are so helpful getting you started and you can weigh the baby when you go ... although it doesn't sound like Brody has any problems gaining weight!!!

St. Francis has a free bfeeding clinic and they worked so hard helping Chelsea, they're great! Okay, I'm done. Good luck and I can't wait to see pictures!!!!! Congratulations to the whole family!

I'm so glad to see your home. How long will Nate get to stay off work with you?

It took Carson about two weeks and we did have to mix my milk with formula for those few weeks until my milk came. But I only breast fed for 6 months and had about another month frozen so Carson got 7 months worth.

Just remember, whatever you decide is what is best for you and that is great.

Can't wait to see the pictures of your chubcakes.

Try to get some rest and tell Nate that I'm going to mail you a bell to ring so you can stay in bed and have him wait on you. LOL

I hate to "jump on the bandwagon," but I must say I agree about the breastfeeding- hang in there and you will NEVER regret it! After nursing 6 babies w/ no problems, I ended up struggling for almost 3 months with baby #7! He never developed a good latch, my nipples ended up a terrible mess, and my milk never fully came in- I was miserable, but determined, and I am so thankful I never went to the bottle. He's now 14mos. old and still nurses a couple of times a day, and I LOVE it! GOOD LUCK:)

All I can say is I agree with the other gals, give it time, but obviously you are the only who knows what's truly best for you and your baby. I am a firm believer in "mommy knows best"
I am so glad to hear you and Brody are home. Take it as easy as you can and enjoy every second of everyday with your newest little guy.
You will feel so many emotions and please please know that EVERYTHING you will feel is completely normal. I am here for you if every you need to talk. Obviously right now you are over joyed... Brody is here, healthy, and home.
I pray for your strength as you encounter each day. Ava is by your side and she only wants what's best for her mommy and her new little brother!

Love you!
HUGS!!!

I am so glad that you are home and this time, you got to bring baby Brody with you! I am still in shock over the 11 lbs, but he is sure cute. In the 2nd picture above he is so alert and almost looks like he's 5mo old or so. What a doll.

Congrats...and I did get your comment and yes, I do post almost daily, but since my blog is private, it wont show that I've posted on your sidebar.

Love and Prayers!!!

I so hope to one day meet you guys. Me and Kaci have been talking about coming to visit one day.

Congrats!
