Totally stressed out...

Kaden ended up going to the ER today (we were there for almost 4 hours, 1 1/2 hours we spent in the waiting room, well what my dad and I made into a waiting room). We found out that he has RSV. He did a good job being a big boy though. He actually made out with 12 stickers between three different women there, we came home with one and I was wearing that one. The rest ended up getting "dirty" and he decided he wanted to throw them away.

So there is nothing we can do for Kaden besides continue alternating the tylenol and motrin as well as giving him his breathing treatments. Not only am I concerned for Kaden but I also worry about Brody. It scares me knowing what can happen with such a young baby getting this crud. What really has me paranoid, is that on Monday Kaden told us that he was a baby and put Brody's binkie in his mouth. I did rinse it off with hot water, but did not sterilize it. It makes me sick to my stomach thinking of what could go wrong with both of the boys. I really hope that we can keep Brody healthy and get Kaden back to himself really soon.

Amy, I can hear the panic in your post. I hope Kaden gets better and Brody doesnt get ill. I will keep you guys in my prayers,,,just a little differently now. I know you just have to be exhausted. I wish I could lend you my nanny and bubble wrap but both seem to have disappeared. :)

Did they actually do the test for rsv? I am suprised that Kaden would have it. Unless it is due to him being prone, because of the trach or something. Usually kids over the age of 2 years do not get RSV. Or are they just suspecting from the symptoms, and that is what they are calling it? Hopefully Brody won't get it whatever it is. They suspected that is what Xavier had also, but I chose not to have him tested as the testing procedure is no fun at all, and they wouldn't have changed the course of action we were already taking.

So I hope Kaden gets to feeling better soon, and that Brody stays healthy. We are all on the uphill battle of things here for now. So I am hoping we will all be well soon, and be able to meet little Brody soon. Seems as though he won't be "new" anymore when we finally get to meet him.

I am sorry the ignorance of what could go wrong isn't a part of this new experience with Brody. It sounds like you've handled things great.

I had no clue kids that age could get RSV. I am freaking out over that!!!

I pray with all my heart that little Brody does not get this.

I completely see why you would be stressed out right nowk!!!!!

I hope he gets to feeling better soon! I know it's hard not to think about Brody getting sick, but you can't beat yourself up over the binky, and you can't start driving yourself crazy sterilizing stuff. You did fine with the hot water. If he gets sick, you guys will take care of him, but he's not sick now, so just try to enjoy him ... in between the suctioning. Poor Kaden !!!!

Remember nursing him is the best thing you can do to keep him healthy right now. AND, he's got a little extra going for him since he's so big, that really helps!

Hang in there!

I'm so sorry. It is always very scary when kids get RSV. Especially with Brody being so little and with Kaden's trach and what not. I wish you guys all the best in getting through this nasty illness quickly!!

How are you doing by now? Is Kaden well again? How is Brody doing?

Aric is doing so much better and back to his normal self. I have a feeling we're going to run the gamut of illnesses for awhile now that he's in daycare.
