A Little Fun...

I have two things I would like from all of our readers...

First of all, I am amazed at how many readers we have. It really touches my heart to know that my babies touch yours. I can not believe how many people log on and read each day. I am very curious to know who you all are and how you found our blog (if you remember, I can't remember how I have found others myself). So please, leave a comment and let us know...

While your at it, I would like for you guys to guess a weight for baby Brody. My mom, grandma and I were talking about it tonight, here are their guesses...

My mom - 1st guess 10 lbs 13 oz, after I gave her a look like she was crazy she changed it to 10 lbs 3 oz but she thinks he will be around 26 in....I never heard of a baby that long : ) I think she is a little tired!!!!

My grandma - 9 lbs 8 oz

Me - hopefully big enough, but not too big. I will be surprised if he is not close to Kaden's weight and height.

Just a little background info:
Nate was just a little over 10 lbs when he was born

Me, well I was 8 lbs 1/2 oz and 21 inches long

Kaden - 9 lbs 13 oz and 23 inches long

Ava - 8 lbs 8 oz and 20 1/2 inches long (I was told 8 lbs 7 oz however it was written at 8 oz)

Baby Brody - ??????? On the last sono I was exactly 26 weeks and he was measuring at about 29 weeks 3 days.

While I am talking about baby weights, did you all see the baby who was born weighing 14 lbs...that I would like to stay away from!!!

So, leave a comment and let us know who you are, how you found us and your guess on Baby Brody's weight!!! It will be very interesting and fun for us to read. Thank you for your time!!! For those we already know in the blogging world, we would still like to hear from you too!!!

I hope everyone is having a great New Year so far!!!

I might try to post a recent picture of the belly to give you all an idea of how big I really am, tomorrow.

Hi my name is Christy. I live in NW Missouri and found your blog through Angle Elli Reed's blog.

Your Kaden seems so amazing. I have one son of my own. They are so fun. I started reading your blog after you had lost Ava but i have read back and see how much of a fighter she was. She was so pretty.

I will guess Brody will be 9 lbs 15.5 oz. I don't know much about big babies as my son Kyler was born early and only weighted 2 lbs 8 oz. Big or little they are all amazing.

I live in Wichita and found your blog because I read the Manhattan paper daily (went to KSU) and I saw your blog address on Ava's obituary in the Manhattan paper, so since then I've been hooked. You're one amazing mama!

I guess your baby to be 9 lbs, 9 oz.

Angie said...

My guess is 9lbs 4oz simply based on what all you have written!!

I found your blog from when you posted it in the paper with Ava's obituary and have been checking in on you ever since! I have left a few messages-but didn't want you to think I was just checking and not talking to you!!!

My Three Sons said...

Okay, I talked to you briefly at the hospital one day when you where there with Kaden. You told me that you had a daugher upstairs. It was during one of Carson's very first visits at the clinics so it would have been early April. We actually had a few other appointments and wanted to go upstairs to check on you and Carson never cooperated. The clinics as you know are so long.

So that is how I found you and Kaden and Angel Ava.

Now I'm going to be nice, I think Brody will be 8lb 9oz. I'm thinking that the doctor will let Brody come a week or two early so that you don't deliver a big baby. :-)

Coltan was 8lb 10 1/2 oz, Cody was 9lb 3 oz (keep in mind, he was the easiest delivery I had), and Carson was 7lb 12oz.

Carey said...

Hmmm, how did I find you? Micah? And both of us being locked up in the hospital for WAAAYYYY too long!

For Baby Brody, I'll guess, 9lbs 5 oz, 22 inches long. And not sure if I mentioned it or not, but those last pix I saw of you ... WOW! No matter what his weight is, he's bound to be BIG!!!

Good luck mama!

Hi Nate and Amy!

I'm not for sure how I found your blog. I'm pretty sure it was through someone else's blog though. I have been keeping up with you guys since shortly after beautiful Ava's birth and have continually come back to read about Kaden who is incredible! I must say that you have an amazing family and are such a strong couple and parents. I don't know how you do it! We also have something in commmon. My husband and I are both police officers in Kansas City, KS and have a son (Wyatt) who will be 3 on the 18th that was born with a CHD (HRHS). Best of luck with Brody's birth. I don't want him to be too big for your sake, Amy : ) My guess will be: 8 lbs. 15 oz. and you will have him just a little early so he won't be half grown before he is born. Give Kaden a hug and kiss for me because I would love to do so myself. He is too adorable!

I have worked in most of the NICU's in KC and even did home care for special needs kids.

I am guessing Brody will weigh around 9lbs 8oz and 21 inches long.

I'm Kyla Barcus from Kansas City, Mo. I found your blog through a google alert on the terms "Turner Syndrome." I started reading your blog when you were pregnant with your sweet baby Ava. My 4-year old daughter, Delainey, has Turner Syndrome (she was diagnosed with TS and HLHS while I was pregnant.) Delainey also had heart surgery at Children's Mercy days after she was born. I think our girls might have had the same surgeon, Dr. O'Brien. I've been praying for your family ever since I started reading your blog. I continue to be amazed by your family's strength.

Wishing you a wonderful 2009!

Thanks for the suggestion of Etter's wife. I called her today. She has no openings since she just took on a 7 month old, but she passed me along to her daughter. I called about eight other people today and none of them have any openings for a baby.

Hey Amy
Some of the ECMO nurses at CM in KC told me about your blog, I am pretty sure that a couple of them even pulled it up while we were there all alone back in the surgical/ecmo room. Either way, your blog is still one of them that I follow, I am not as religious about checking them as I used to be.
I cant wait to hear all about Brodey coming home from the hospital.

As far as weight goes...who knows personally I am pretty sure that I could never give birth to anything bigger than 6lbs 8oz (elli's size) so anything larger than that and you are the CHAMP. I am hoping for any healthy weight!!!

I think of you all the time..
Love you guys

Hi there, I can't remember how I came across you guys? From one blog to another type thing I'm guessing.

I'm Jacquie in Edmonton Alberta, Canada.

I'll throw my guess in that baby Brody will weigh in at 9lbs 6oz and be around 21-22 inches.

Theses little ones can be tricky, with my 3rd DD the Dr kept saying she was huge, turns out I had alot of amniotic fluid and she was only 8lbs 6oz. My other girls were 7lbs 8oz and 9lbs 1oz.

Hi there. I was following the blog for another CDH baby that one of my aunts told me about and through that blog I found little angel Elli's blog and then yours. After I started reading your story I realized that your beautiful angel Ava was in Children's Mercy at the same time as our son Tommy. He passed away on May 3rd of 2008 when he was 6 weeks old. I love to read your stories about Kaden - he's such a doll! I also love your heartfelt letters to Kaden and Ava. I guess it brings me comfort to know that I'm not walking the road of a grieving mother all alone. I hope all the best for you and the new addition to your family. God Bless.

I found your blog through Angel Elli's, but I met you all at Children's just briefly in the elevator one day. I was wearing turquoise for CDH Awareness and you asked if I had a baby with CDH. I was shocked that anyone would recognize it and I said yes. Sofie was still very critical at that time, and I wasn't quite myself or I would have spoken much more.

You told me your baby girl was there and that Kaden had been born with CDH. He is such a beautiful and happy boy!!! We saw him in the little blue wagon several times around the hospital and in the cafeteria and we always thought he was such a cutie pie - always smiling and waving to everyone. He gave us such hope for Sofie. I asked the nurses in the NICU about him and they said he was such a strong miracle baby with amazing parents.

Sofie went home in May and I always wondered about your family and how your precious baby girl was doing. After Angel Elli was born I followed her blog closely, and then found the link to your blog. I read that Ava had earned her Angel wings and was so deeply saddened for you. Your family has been through so much. I'm so inspired by your strength and love for each other.

God truly blesses us all, but certainly some more than others. I could not agree with you more that these "special" babies are God's ultimate blessing for us as parents, and we are chosen for a reason. May God bless you this time around with an easy delivery and a healthy baby!!

My guess is 9 lbs 8 oz and 22 inches long (a couple of weeks early)

I learned about your blog from Rhett's Journey (http://rhettsjourney.blogspot.com/). I read about Ava, and thought with my own children's deaths, it might be good to let you know I'd be available as a "listening ear" if you needed. I started reading Rhett's blog after "talking" with his mom on a news report comment board where we were discussing issues of special needs/medically fragile children. Amazing I can remember all that!

So as to the weight. I'm going to guess 8lb 10 oz. 21 inches long. That's my prediction. ;)

Hello, My name is Allie. I found your blog after Ava passed. I have been following you ever since. I live in HOlton KS. Then one day my husband came home and said he wanted to play in this golf tournament for this "couple"{ that had two kids and they both had different issues and he thought it was such a great idea for that. Then come to fin out it was your family. I think my Brother in Law is friends with some of your husbands frinds/family/or him. Not sure. But I thought it was so ironic how lives just kind of fit together. YOu are totally an inspiration in knowing that you love your kids so much and could care less about their ailments. I have a neice that has Cystic Fibrosis that she battles everyday and I do know how you feel to some small extent. I love keeping up with your little, I guess I should say big man and love looking at pictures of your little Ava as well. You have succeeded in keeping her memory alive. Sincerely Allie Summers

I found your blog through Gabi's blog. Not sure how I found hers. Actually we were on the same elevator one day at Children's Mercy last spring. You were pulling Kaden in a CMH wagon. I asked you if you were Kaden and Ava's mommy, and you probably thought I was a stalker:)

My three year old that was with me on the elevator that morning has a rare disease that causes tumors to grow on all her organs. She has seizures every day and has had multiple brain surgeries. . . Even though I don't know the pain of losing a child, I can relate to so much of what you write about sweet Kaden and the struggles of raising a child with special needs. I used to live in Manhattan and now live in Emporia.

My oldest was 8 lbs, 8 ozs, and youngest was 10 lbs 3 ozs! I've always been petite so that was quite a surprise to everyone!! I'm just going to randomly guess, 9 lbs 2 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long. . .

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and God Bless!

My guess for baby Brody is 9 lbs!

Mine were 10 lbs 3 oz, 10 lbs 3 oz (yep...the first two weighed exactly the same) and 9 lbs 3 oz.

My youngest was born with a congenital heart disease (Tetralogy of Fallot) and a genetic syndrome (probably Noonan or Kabuki). I blog about it in Swedish, but I have a short summary in English and lots of photos.

Hi, I am a parent of a child with multiple CHD's. I have followed your site since your pregnancy with Ava. I think of you and your family often.
I am so happy for you and your family. My guess is that baby Brody will weigh about 9 lbs 2 (or 3) oz and be 22.5 inches long. Good luck!
